How to adjust your timer

Our professional installation crew will wire up all your lights and decorations to a light-sensing timer, so that everything comes on automatically every day! For most homes everything will be connected to a single timer. For larger installations, or really dispersed areas, we’ll use two or more timers.

It’s very easy to adjust your own timer throughout the season. You’ll find it plugged in somewhere on the exterior of the house, usually at ground level. If you don’t see it right away, just reach out and we’ll help you.

OFF– Always off, great for October or January

ON– Always on, great for turning the lights on early in the day, like for a party

DUSK-DAWN– This setting activates your lights when the sensor registers darkness, and then switches them off when it senses sunrise.

2-8 Hours– These settings activate your lights when the sensor registers darkness, and then begins a countdown timer for the specified number of hours. Most people choose 8 hours, so if dusk is around 5pm the lights will stay on until 1am.

The light sensing timer is tried and true, but we do have a few other options for special situations:

Digital Timer– This type of timer allows us to set the time, and then program when the lights turn on and off. This is great for indoor applications, and also when we want to coordinate multiple timers so everything turns on at (roughly) the same time. Sometimes light sensors can vary by 20-30 minutes, depending on the angle and intensity of sunlight in different locations.

Remote– This is just a simple ON/OFF remote, which you can hang near your door or keep on your keychain. Just don’t lose it! 🙂

Dimmer- This allows you to adjust the brightness of your lights with a remote. Not all lights are compatible, just ask us if your interested!

Thanks, and happy holidays!!
